The Hennessy Hammock is the most innovative solution to lightweight, comfortable camping on the planet.
We started the modern camping hammock revolution over 20 years ago by introducing the first fully enclosed hammock that allowed you to sleep flatter on a diagonal. Today, we're still leading the industry with new designs. Our hammocks are tough, lightweight, and packed full of features to provide the same comfortable bed every night so you can hike well rested every day.
Revolutionary Camping Equipment
Tom’s amazing design changed camping forever. Experience a level of comfort on the trail almost as good as your bed at home and maybe even better.
Tom knew that the people of Central America sleep diagonally in their hammocks, so he changed the shape of his hammock into his patented asymmetrical design which lets you lie level on the diagonal with excellent support under your lower back and knees. The sleek diamond shape looks great and is the ideal combination of form and function.
Tall or large campers and campers with injuries, arthritis, bone spurs or back pain tell us about finding their first night of comfortable camping in many years with the larger Explorer Deluxe or Safari Deluxe models. You will wake up in the morning feeling great. Some owners of Hennessy Hammocks claim that they come home from their adventure feeling better than when they left. Some hikers have tossed out their beds when they got home from a hike and tied up their hammock in the house.
The clever patented entrance through the bottom of the Classic models seems impossible, yet works beautifully. SnakeSkins help you pack and unpack your hammock in seconds. The structural ridgeline maintains the exact same shape every time you set it up.
This is the first time in history that you have the exact same comfortable bed every night over rocky, muddy, wet or sloping terrain.
All "stock" Hennessy Hammocks are a complete shelter system built tough for years of service. All of our support ropes and webbing straps are six times stronger than the weight rating of the hammock. We use tightly woven fabrics, a "no see um" mosquito mesh, a gear loft on the ridge line, a matching detachable rainfly, and a stuff sack with set up instructions on the back. Hennessy Hammock also provides complimentary TreeHugger webbing straps to protect the ropes and the tender bark of trees.
You can also “build your own” hammock for your specific needs with two sizes of free longer webbing straps for areas of the world where trees are bigger, a bigger rain fly that provides the maximum storm protection often for little or no extra cost, or an insulation system designed for every model because most places in the world, even jungles, require some insulation at night, especially at altitude.
For a limited time free SnakeSkins are also included.

Who is Hennessy?
Tom Hennessy is an industrial designer living on an island off the west coast of Canada. He runs a small family business with his wife Ann, his son James and long time friends, whose only mission is to continually improve the evolution of hammock design. They have been granted up to five patents nationally and internationally. Tom started sleeping in a WW2 army jungle hammock when he was 12 years old, fell in love with it and hasn’t slept in a tent since 1955.
It’s hard to believe, but Tom wasn’t even thinking about starting a hammock business. After seven years in design school, he decided to design the best hammock he could for himself. By the fall of 1998, after traveling for six years and making over 50 prototypes, Tom could not add or subtract any features which would further simplify or improve this design. Only then did it occur to him that his hammock might have some commercial value. Within a week, both MEC and REI Co-ops had decided to carry it.
"Tom’s innovation has made him a leader in the creation of an entirely new segment in the outdoor market." — Carolyn Burnham, REI product manager
